Omaha Project Linus

Serving the Greater Omaha and Council Bluffs Areas Since 2003

Our Mission Statement:
To provide love, security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill
or traumatized by providing them with handmade blankets.

Saturday, September 19, 2026!

We are 22 so let's celebrate! (Bring your friends and families, too.)

Project Linus is a volunteer organization with a mission to provide a sense of comfort to children who are seriously ill or traumatized through the gifts of new, handmade blankets or afghans crafted by volunteer “blanketeers.” All blankets donated to our local chapter of this nation-wide organization are given to children, ages 0-18, here in the Greater Omaha and Council Bluffs area. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute something special to our local children in need. This is our 22nd Birthday Party for our chapter. Over the last 22 years YOU have donated nearly 101,000 blankets to local kids in need. Come help us celebrate!

When? Saturday, September 19, 2026            Where? Bryan High School
From        9AM - 1PM                                         4700 Giles Road Omaha, NE

What you need to bring? You can bring 1 1/2 or 2 yards of printed fleece(no minky, please) with a matching solid piece for the back and scissors.  Don't know how?  NO PROBLEM!!! We will teach you! :)  You can also bring new, handmade, washable blankets and afghans OR bring your knitting, crocheting, or your sewing machine and you can stay and make a blanket with us OR just bring yourself and a friend! We will have a limited number of fleece pieces to make some no-sew blankets. Also bring a snack to share, if you like!

We will be giving away a sewing machine donated by Susan Young. For each blanket donated you will receive a raffle ticket to enter into the drawing. (Blankets made with the fleece provided at the event will not be eligible for the raffle.)

If you can’t join us for that day but would still like to contribute, we would love donations of cotton fabric, batting, fleece, yarn or cash, etc… For more information please call Omaha Project Linus at (402)212-3975 or email omahaprojectlinus@hotmail.com.

As the Holidays are upon us, so many of you have been reaching out to us wondering how you can help during these crazy times.  Seriously, Linus has the VERY BEST volunteers!!!  If there is one thing that I have learned from this (rotten) Covid--- is that people are so very GOOD!  Our cup is overflowing with wonderful deeds here at Linus.  You bless us with the most basic love that can be expressed, the love of a child.

If you would like to give a local child the soft, warm hug of a comforting handmade blanket--- here are some ideas:

If you don't have time to make a blanket for Linus, we would love ❤❤❤️ to have gift cards(or cash, if you like) to JoAnns, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Walmart, etc... to give to our volunteers to purchase fabric, yarn, fleece, thread, batting---anything they might need to continue to make blankets.  With many of us staying close to home, our blanketeers are making lots of beautiful blankets and could really us a little "extra" shopping money to continue their craft.
